Covering Clip Cords-- Cross Contamination

Posted by on 09.14.16

I am noticing a trend of tattooers not covering their clip cords lately.  Curious why this standard procedure for the last 20+ years is sliding backwards?  Are there Virucidal sprays with faster kill times than 3 minutes?  Stronger sprays guaranteed to kill germs/bacteria on surfaces?

I can't explain why people don't cover their clipcord, but we use Opticide, which has a kill time of 2 minutes. We switched from Madacide about a year ago and have not had any issues.

I've noticed this too...some aren't even bagging their machines anymore.  I've always used clip cord sleeves and then wiped it down with an opticide wipe during cleanup, particularly the prongs since they are always sticking out of the sides of the sleeve.
